Republic Day Patriotic Poems in Hindi and Eng

“Is there ought you need that my hands withhold,
Rich gifts of raiment or grain or gold?
Lo ! I have flung to the East and the West
Priceless treasures torn from my breast,
And yielded the sons of my stricken womb
To the drum-beats of the duty, the sabers of doom…..”

The Gift of India
– by Sarojini Naidu
“Where the mind is without fear
and the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been
broken up into fragments by
narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out from
the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches
its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason
has not lost its way into the dreary
desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is lead forward by thee
into ever-widening thought and action-
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father,
let my country awake.”
– by Rabindranath Tagore
(from Geetanjali)
My country is home,
I have no fear.
My country is home,
and I am here.
Kah gaye kah gaye
Veer hamse kah gaye
Hindustaa ki sar jamee pe
Amet chhap chhor gaye
Dekho dekho ab kya ho raha
Dushkaram ab aam ho raha
Suno veero ki gathao ko..
Dil se….
Off to war he went! Went where he was sent!

but your voice could wake me
from a coma you’re 3000 miles away

It drew many views,
Was daily in the news,
Till it vanished from everyone’s sight.

Since our inception, we’ve been free
Praise those brave who’ve kept this to be
America, how blessed we are
By those who dare fight, each bright star
Our brave do not dodge, love bears pride
When called to move out, how they stride
They show they’re our absolute plus
They’ll not send mixed signals to us
They keep our strong freedom alive
In a world where it’s tough to survive
All who proudly marched in our past
Their deeds helped this nation to last
To the brave war has taken away
Hold Solemn Memorial Day
Honor each with love and respect
Take time to feel sorrow, reflect
Pray to God as our young march on
Leading liberty through each dawn
Show thankfulness, wholehearted care
They stand for us, with pride, sincere

4. Shorter Parade time

According to mapsofindia, the Republic Day parade will be shorter by at least 15 minutes. This year, the plan is to hold a 90-minute parade instead of the 2-hour one.

6. Glass Roof

Unlike last year’s much embarrassment when US President Barack Obama and wife Michelle had to use an umbrella to shield themselves from the drizzle that lasted through the first half of the parade, this year the government has decided to set up a motorized glass roof at the VVIP enclosure where the President, Prime Minister and the Chief Guest will be seated with other dignitaries. “The motorised roof can be rolled off when the air flypast takes place, so that dignitaries have a clear view”, according to an official.

Security issue attained priority after a UAV was spotted near IGI Airport. Express photo by Ravi Kanojia. But it will also be one of the most unique parades in recent times. Here are some of the things to look out for:

Foreign army to participate in event for the first time

For the first time since 1950, a foreign army contingent will march down the Rajpath during the Indian Republic Day parade. Army dogs to march

One of the major attractions this year which has already grabbed a lot of attention and raised the enthusiasm of people is that Indian Army dogs will march down the Rajpath on Tuesday after 26 long years.

Reportedly, the Army has selected 36 dogs out of total 1,200 Labradors and German Shepherds for the event. These canines are trained in jobs like detection of explosives, guarding, assaulting, etc, and play a vital role in saving lives of the soldiers at various occasions.

Kyunki hum bharat ke vaasi hai,
Waqute par hum dikha denge jamane ko,
Ki desh ko hum jaise jawan ko hai bachaye rakhna,

Indian Army dog squad to march on the Republic Day after 26 years – Chiku is clearly the most affectionate of the lot while Oscar and Ceaser are no nonsense kinds. The dogged persistence of their handlers leaves no room for faltering on Republic Day when the Indian Army dogs return to Rajpath after 26 years.

Hey have been an integral part of the Armed Forces since time immemorial but their silent service to the nation will be showcased in the Republic Day parade after a long hiatus.

A bunch of labradors and German shepherds will march with their handlers in a display of India’s canine power along with military might and the soft outreach.

The army dogs are no ordinary pets as their history is full of valiant tales and testifying the martial credential is the fact that Remount Veterinary Corps is decorated with a Shaurya Chakra and close to 150 commendation cards.

In August last year, sniffer dog Mansi was killed in an encounter with militants in the Tangdhar area of Jammu and Kashmir along with her handler rifleman Bashir Ahmed War.

The army dogs are integral part of operations in Jammu and Kashmir and the northeast where they have assisted in recovering munitions and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

26-year hiatus

The last time an army dog squad had participated in Republic Day parade was in 1990 and before that in 1963. The RVC Centre and College in Meerut Cantt has put in great effort to prepare the squad for the march past. A vigorous training programme is underway for the dogs and their handlers.

The last time a dog squad had participated in the parade was in 1990.

The special qualities of great sniffing power and loyalty make dogs a natural aspect of warfare tactics. The handlers claim that the inherent desire of the dog to please its master makes the task of training easier.

The RVC centre prepares the dog for specialised army training as there is plenty of work cut out for them from mine detection to infantry patrol and search and rescue missions.

In the parade, 36 “silent warriors” and their handlers will take part in the march past. There is already a buzz surrounding the inclusion of dog squad in the prestigious parade which will have several new dimensions this year.

The dogs have undergone special training for the rigorous march past drill.

Officials point out that a relation between a soldier and the dog is as old as the battlefield. Romans were the first to use trained dogs in close combats.

Personnel of the RVC Centre in Meerut Cantt train dogs to take part in the upcoming Republic Day parade in New Delhi.

The RVC itself was founded in 1779. The army has around 1,000 trained dogs in its ranks and the RVC is tasked to maintain the strength.

German Shepherd and labradors are the most preferred army dogs because of their natural ability to adapt to any training schedule. They are easy to train and have the special ability to perform the tasks required by the army.

Chiku, Oscar and Ceaser are ready to bask in their moment of glory on Rajpath where French President Francois Hollande will be the chief guest.

Interestingly, unlike the other contingents where selection takes place on the basis of marching prowess of the personnel involved, the parameters here are different.

“We need those men who can keep the dogs fully under control. Since dog behaviour is critical to the success of the show, how well the men march comes second. We have been practising three times a day since the last four months,” said Captain Anurag Boruah from the RVC.

Since dogs are known not to react favourably to increased noise levels like those on Rajpath, there is practice for that too.

Delhi turns into a fortress ahead of Republic day celebrations – The Delhi Police have turned Rajpath and other important buildings into a fortress ahead of Republic Day celebrations, but most of the cars entering the Capital remain unchecked despite cops installing barricades at all exit-entry points and sensitive locations.

A PCR van of both Noida and Delhi Police were stationed but there was no one at the barricades to check the cars. Installation of barricades however caused queue of vehicles as traffic slowed down here. Cops present at the spot were busy managing the trucks ushering them towards the MCD booths for tax collection.

The barricades on the middle of the road troubled commuters. “What is the use of installing a barricade if cops cannot even stand and check the cars? This barricade is only adding to traffic menace,” said Utkarsh Kumar, a Mayur Vihar resident.

A few kilometres after crossing the UP border the first barricade was sighted near the Akshardham temple. The barricade was found on the roadside and only one officer was seen manning the spot. The area witnesses huge traffic as it is used by commuters from Ghaziabad, Noida and East Delhi. All the cars at this check point crossed unchecked.

The officer present at the spot said that cops are deployed round the clock and barricading is done post midnight as volume of vehicles is too high and causes massive traffic congestion.

Delhi Police have put up a check point after Pathankot attack at this police post but no checking was being carried out. The officer present at the spot said, “As the time for trucks entry into the Capital has just begun, barricades have been removed.” Trucks coming from Mayur Vihar and Sarai Kale Khan side were seen queued up near the post.

Mail Today team could not spot any barricades near ITO to New delhi railway station via DDU Marg but spotted three PCR vans at a distance of five kilometers each.

No security check was carried out on cars entering the railway station from the Ajmeri Gate side. However, presence of Railway Protection Force (RPF) could be seen inside the station. Armed jawans were deployed at the entrance of platforms and on station premises. A temporary watch tower has been made to guard the high footfall areas.

High police presence was spotted around the NDMC area. Within a short distance of 200 metres, two police barricades were spotted, one on the Minto Road side another near the Civic Centre building. Four armed cops were seen checking all cars crossing the area. One officer was seen noting down the number of cars while others were profiling the drivers and passengers inside the car.

Surprisingly no police barricades could be spotted at outer and inner circle of busy Connaught Place market. However, close to six PCR vans were spotted in the area. Some of cops were seen standing near busy restaurants.

Rajpath and India Gate 11.45 PM Entire area has turned into fortress with massive deployment of paramilitary force. Central forces are deployed at important intersections in this area. Over a dozen PCR vans were seen patrolling near India Gate.

The Mail Today team then moved towards South Delhi, after a travel of seven kilometres, police check post was found at Kotla Mubarakpur. Four armed Delhi Police officers were checking cars heading towards Central Delhi. The officer deployed said that local police have marked important and sensitive areas falling under their jurisdiction and round the clock checks are being carried out.

All government and VIP cars are also being checked. Post 11 pm cops have started barricading all the entrance of locality allowing entry and exit from only one location.
